I study mushrooms and plants, mostly in California, but I'm fascinated by the entire natural world. I spend my winters hunting mushrooms of all kinds, identifying them for people online and at mushroom events, and teaching occasional mushroom ID classes. I'm a (long-term) seasonal botanist for the Forest Service's Region 5 Range Ecology program, which means I spend a lot of time with the Cyperaceae, Juncaceae, and Poaceae.
