Fungi in Wombat Forest
We had a beautiful day for our field trip on 4th June. Les @leshanrahan led a large group of members to sites at Korweinguboora and Mollongghip in the Wombat Forest in search of fungi.
We didn't find all the species on the list Les supplied us with, but we did find a few extras such as the rare Sarcodon: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/165489182 and some interesting wart lichens: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/165862664. If this fly is correctly identified, it is only the second record for the species on iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/165462134.
You can see all the observations made on the day by clicking here.
Some members visited the sites on different days, so their observations are missing from that link. You can see some observations Les made when scouting locations for the field trip here, and Elspeth visited our first site a few days earlier, and her observations can be seen here.
Thanks to Les for planning and leading our fabulous fungi foray!
